An iPhone with iOS 17 or later, and enough free space for a speech engine (from about 90 MB to 1.7 GB, see below).

Summaries also need iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence turned on, on an iPhone that supports it. Everything else works without it.

• You choose a passphrase. It locks everything TaciVox keeps.
• You get a recovery code. Write it down on paper and keep it somewhere safe. It's shown once.
• TaciVox downloads its speech engine from our storage in Paris. Wi-Fi is best. After that, it works offline.

You can add or remove engines at any time in the Settings tab. Live text while recording needs Tiny or Base.

Yes. Once a speech engine is downloaded, recording, transcribing and summaries all work in airplane mode.

Yes. Pick the file with the iPhone's file picker, from Files or iCloud Drive. TaciVox reads it on the phone and doesn't upload it anywhere.

Whatever was captured is kept, still locked, even if the app closes. If a recording is paused (for example by a phone call), TaciVox shows a notification so you know.

Yes. Turn on Identify speakers and the transcript is split by speaker. You can rename speakers afterwards. This also runs on the phone.

Use your recovery code to get back in, then set a new passphrase.

We're sorry, but nobody can open your data, including us. We never have a copy of your passphrase or key; that's what keeps it private.

To start again, use Erase everything in the app. It deletes the locked data; your speech engines are kept.

Yes, with Auto-lock in Settings. TaciVox also locks and hides its screen when you leave the app, and hides itself while the screen is being recorded or shared.

Tap share. By default TaciVox makes a locked web page file with a password. The other person opens it in any web browser and types the password; on an iPhone or iPad it opens in TaciVox. Nothing needs to be installed on a computer.

Send the password a different way from the file, for example the file by email and the password by text message.

Yes, after a warning: plain text, Markdown, or SRT and WebVTT subtitles. Unlocked files can be read by anyone who gets them, so share them with care. Recordings themselves are never shared.

Yes. Turn on the Sharing log. It notes what you shared, when, in what format and with which app, plus a note you can add about who it was for. It's off by default and stays locked on your phone.

No. Your recordings and transcripts never leave your phone unless you share them. The full details are on our privacy page.

Not by themselves. TaciVox keeps its data out of iCloud and iTunes backups on purpose, so a backup doesn't carry it to a new phone.

Before you switch, share the transcripts you want to keep as locked files, and open them in TaciVox on the new iPhone.

Use Erase everything in the app, or delete the app. We don't hold any of your data, so there's nothing for us to delete.
