What we collect, in plain words.

Who we are

TaciVox is made by Krinologic Ltd, in Ireland. For anything about privacy, email hello@tacivox.com.

The TaciVox app

What stays on your iPhone

Everything you make with TaciVox stays on your phone and is never sent to us:

• recordings (locked as they're recorded, so an unlocked copy is never saved)
• transcripts, summaries, speaker names and the words you add to the vocabulary
• the sharing log, if you turn it on

All of it is locked with your password using well-tested encryption (libsodium). We don't have your password or a copy of your key, so we can't open your data, and we can't recover it if you lose both your password and your recovery code.

TaciVox keeps this data out of iCloud and iTunes backups. A few settings, such as how quickly the app locks, are stored normally and may be included in your backup. They contain nothing you've recorded.

Transcribing and summaries

Transcribing is done by a speech engine that runs on the phone itself. It works in airplane mode. Summaries use Apple's on-device model (Apple Intelligence), which also runs on the phone. Neither sends your words anywhere.

When the app goes online

TaciVox only connects to the internet to download speech engine files from our own storage in Paris (Scaleway). This happens during setup, and again only if you choose another speech engine in Settings. An interrupted download may finish in the background.

These downloads carry no account, no identifiers, no cookies and nothing you've recorded. As with any download, the storage provider sees your IP address and basic technical details your iPhone sends, such as the app version and iOS version. We don't use these to identify you.

Permissions

• Microphone, to record.
• Notifications, only to tell you if a recording was paused. These are created on the phone; we don't send push notifications.

TaciVox doesn't ask for your location, contacts or photos. When you open an audio file, you choose it with the iPhone's own file picker.

Sharing

A transcript only leaves your phone if you share it. By default it's shared locked: as a web page file or an encrypted file that needs a password you pass on separately. You can choose to share it unlocked after a warning. Once shared, it goes wherever you send it (for example email or iCloud Drive), and those services' privacy rules apply.

No accounts, analytics or ads

The app has no sign-in, no analytics or crash-reporting tools, no advertising and no tracking. It contains no code from outside companies apart from the speech engine (whisper.cpp) and the encryption library (libsodium), and neither of those connects to the internet.

If you've turned on Share With App Developers in your iPhone's settings (Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports and usage data. That's Apple's setting and you control it. It never includes your recordings or transcripts.

Things outside TaciVox

• Screenshots you take are saved to Photos by iOS. TaciVox hides itself during screen recording and warns you if you take a screenshot of your recovery code.
• If you use the iPhone keyboard's dictation button, that's Apple's service, not TaciVox.

Deleting your data

Use Erase everything in the app, or delete the app. Because nothing is stored with us, there's nothing for us to delete.

This website (tacivox.com)

Visiting

The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies. It's hosted by Railway. Like any website host, Railway handles your IP address to deliver the page. Our own code doesn't store IP addresses. It keeps them in memory for up to 10 minutes to stop the waitlist form being abused, and then forgets them.

The waitlist

If you join, we keep only your email address. We use it to:

• send you a welcome email straight away
• send you one email when TaciVox is on the App Store

We never share it or sell it. Our emails don't track whether you open them or click their links.

The list is kept by Resend, an email service, which sends our emails through Amazon Web Services. We also get a short note with your address in our own inbox, which is hosted by Google Workspace.

We keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it, or until we no longer need it for the launch. We use it because you asked to join, and you can change your mind at any time: reply to any of our emails, or use the unsubscribe link in the launch email.

Emailing us

Email to hello@tacivox.com is forwarded to our inbox by Cloudflare. We use it only to reply to you.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@tacivox.com and we'll reply within 30 days. For the app, the answer is simple: we hold nothing.

If you're in the EU and not happy with our answer, you can complain to Ireland's Data Protection Commission or to your own country's data protection authority.

Children

TaciVox isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect anyone's details through the app.

Changes

If we change this page, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect, we'll say so on the home page too.
